Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to join our team in a patient-centered optical environment. In this role, you will help individuals select eyewear, interpret optical prescriptions, and ensure each person receives a comfortable, accurate, and high-quality vision care experience. The ideal candidate brings strong product knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens enhancements based on their needs, style preferences, and prescription requirements.
  • Interpret and verify optical prescriptions and enter order information accurately.
  • Take precise measurements, including pupillary distance, segment height, and other fitting details as needed.
  • Adjust, fit, repair, and maintain eyeglasses to ensure comfort and proper alignment.
  • Educate customers on lens options, frame materials, coatings, and eyewear care.
  • Process orders, track delivery status, and follow up on product readiness or adjustments.
  • Provide excellent customer service while addressing questions, concerns, and warranty-related issues professionally.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming optical sales area.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state licensing requirements, company policies, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic staff, and other team members to support a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Active optician license, where required by state or local regulations.
  • Experience in optical retail, eyewear dispensing, or a related patient service environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of lenses, frames, coatings, fittings, and eyewear repairs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling prescriptions and order entry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using point-of-sale or optical management systems.
  • Professional demeanor, reliability, and a commitment to quality care.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of insurance, benefits verification, and vision plan processing.
  • Experience with specialty lenses, progressive designs, or custom eyewear solutions.
  • Ability to support sales goals while maintaining a high level of service and integrity.
  • Experience with frame styling and product recommendations tailored to individual needs.
