Job Description

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for operating MRI machines to produce diagnostic images, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the scanning process. This role involves coordinating with physicians to deliver timely imaging results, preparing patients for scans, performing necessary patient care tasks including IV insertion, and maintaining accurate and confidential documentation. The ideal candidate has specialized experience with GE scanners, injection certification, and holds a current NYS Radiologic Technologist license.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate MRI equipment efficiently and safely to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Prepare patients for MRI scans by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort.
  • Insert IVs when required for contrast administration during imaging.
  • Coordinate with physicians to ensure timely receipt and review of imaging results.
  • Maintain a clean and safe scanning environment adhering to safety protocols.
  • Document all procedures accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Perform patient care tasks as needed during imaging procedures.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Associate degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiology.
  • Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current New York State Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Injection certification.
  • Minimum of two years MRI technologist experience, including Level 1 Trauma Center experience.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrated experience with GE MRI scanners.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system within the last year.
Special Considerations:
  • Must be willing to obtain New York State Radiologic Technologist license if not currently held.
  • On-call and callback duties as required by unit needs.
  • Work environment is a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring ability to work under urgent conditions.
Scheduling:
  • Sunday through Thursday overnight shifts from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
  • Holiday shifts included as scheduled.
