This position is located in the city of Westchester .

Under the supervision of the Team Manager, the Support Services Assistant-Interpreter (SSA-I) provides a wide range of interpreting services, as a member of a pool of interpreters, to deaf or hard of hearing members ahd Rehabilitation Counselors for the Deaf (RCDs).

Telework:
Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change.  Incumbent must live and work in California.  Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated lcoation at any time.  Telework agreemtns can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

Working Conditions

Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 24 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.

The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) fluency in the American Sign Language language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
